holiDay Nine
December 30, 2007
Spending time w/ family involves travelling across the country, occassionally meeting scenes like this:

a bit dreary, but beautiful still. & the weather has been better than that, as on the scenes I encountered a couple of days later:

I’m actually quite positively surprised by my own photographing skills, cuz I took those pictures while driving a car (not by myself obviously). Then again, maybe skies are just so intrinsically pretty you can’t take bad pictures..
Now, for some true excitement, some other scenes from the holidays

A girl’s gotta keep herself entertained while playing w/ her nephew’s toys. One of my nephews, I shd say, cuz I got loads of them. One replying to my call w/: “I was talking to Bear, not to you!” Another one now harrassing me cuz he wants to play a computergame.
Just a minute, let’s first escape the winter for a minute and dwell on the look of these flowers.

I do long for the spring, even though the new year hasn’t even started, so it may take a while.
Bye! I’m off to do some running & exercises to balance the holidayfood.
holiDay Two
December 23, 2007
I figured that, now that I started cheating & enjoyed it, I might as well continue to do so (please keep the right context in mind, otherwise you’ll think bad of me and we can´t have that now, can we?).
So, let’s not waste time & proceed to the pictures straightaway. Do you get the nice christmas feel as well?

Now, tell me, does that look like snow to you? I merely ask this cuz my dad kept on insisting that it wasn’t snow. Not proper snow anyway. Fortunately, the last word is mine here.

Strangely enough, considering the weather, the next scene made me feel like I suddenly stepped into the Lion King pictures. Though I suppose it´s a bit warmer in Africa.

Oh, the cruelty of having to kill your darlingpictures. Cuz I can´t possibly post all the pictures I took. I admit, I took a shameless amount. Then again, it was a nearly two hour-walk, and a girl´s gotta keep herself busy. Maybe I should put some effort in finding out how the slideshow function works…
Now, to conclude, let me show you how I kept warm during those cold hours. Look at the beautiful hat my dear dahling friend knitted for me (with matching long scarf!):

I´m off, taking a look at the exciting things my newly arrived creditcard can buy me!
holiDay One
December 22, 2007
Ok, so frankly, I’m cheating, cuz I shouldn’t be here, & typing this breaks one of my more important holiday resolutions. On the first day already… However, I figured, what is the point in making pictures if you don’t share them, or at least find a good place for them to live & do their thing other than some storage device.
Let me tell you about the big holiday plan: after working without a proper break for one and a half year, and after spending at least four successive christmas holidays studying, I decided it was time for a proper two weeks Christmas & New Year retreat. Which involves virtually no studying, lots of sleeping, seeing lots of family, spending virtually no time behind a computer (hence, the breaking a resolution at the moment) (the other screen is allowed though, but only for good things, like Rufus Sewell in the Taming of the Shrew, yay).
So, this was the first day, and one on which I met all my goals: I slept 13 hours, watched Rufus Sewell, spent little time behind the desk, and, and here comes the purpose of the post, I spent time outside, in the woods, making pictures to pretty to keep to myself. So, I’ll no longer bore you with my typing skills, let’s just be silent & watch…

off to doing more so-called useless things again (it’s a skill I have to practice more often), bye!
meet the magic sheep
December 11, 2007
And lo, the magic sheep fleweth up & walketh on the clouds

Now, after this pleasant intro, let me show you what I actually wanted to show last night, but was unable to do so because there were more important things to be done. Hold on, come to think of it, they weren’t that important, just urgent. Cuz what cd be more important than relaxing & allowing people to see the magic in life? Anyway, what I wanted to show was how I got along studying.
I didn’t.
Cuz there were so many many many other things to be done… like making pictures of the exciting place I went to study.

The outside, however, looked more promising than the actual room that I visited, which was mainly white, grey & light. Still, it featured exciting stuff, like a sword!

and a butterfly…

oh, and spot the easter chick (& my failed attempts at writing something useful).

All this was accompanied with nice, relaxing music (yes, I was desperate for distraction involving photographs)..
At one point, the frustration, boredom, and need for distraction left me running through the empty university halls, wearing no shoes.
In the end, I decided enough was enough and went home (how sensible). And even then, my camera wasnt allowed to take a rest.
I will let it rest now though. Sleep tight phony! And alllllll of you out there.
oh, those little things
December 2, 2007
It’s such a cliche, but then again, cliches have usually become cliches because they are true (which is my little self-created cliche). So, let me show you true happiness in little things today. But first, for a bit of a musical enrichment:
Little things are not to be confused with littlest things (by Lily Allen). (I thought it unethical to post the video here, since it goes against the point I’m trying to make & I was afraid the melancholy might take over from the optimism).
Ok, here goes. First of all, I was doing some reading. And though it was academically relevant, there were nice humorous bits in the text, very different from the things I normally read.

A picture of a verb looking guilty pops up in my mind..

Don’t you just love this kind of logic & creativity? I do. I do like to have a laugh while reading serious stuff. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the word sesquipedaliaphobia (including myself) it apparently means the fear of long words. Which would seem to me a bit of a contradiction, come to think of it. Cuz greatgreatgreatgreatgreatadinfmother is quite a long word. So you wouldn’t think of that. Right, completely beside the point of course.
I also like the following kind of simplicity:

Talking about simplicity (mind you, I do also very much like the kind of complicated abacadabra stuff I usually): look at this beauty gift I let my mother buy me.

Ow, I can’t wait until it’s January & I can let Thoreau make me happy with “always maintain a kind of summer, even in the middle of winter”. Though I will be sad to part from the reading women who lived on my walls the last year. (I will show some of them to you some time, but not now, cuz that would involve lots of movements & I’m taking it easy, hihi. Plus there are enough pictures in this post already.)
Some more joy: pimp (how I hate the word, but it’ll do for now) yr own not-so-favourite jeans..

Pimp yr own stuff (what’s it called anyway), more appropriately called DImy happiness

And how about this unexpected spontaneous pwettiness? It’s glue, forgot to store it away properly, but doesn’t it look like some very precious material? Nice, I say.

Now, to conclude, back to my tea once again. But what kind of tea? So much to choose from & all new, so they all have to be tasted soon!

The Green Tea & Apple is in any case yum, as I just found out.
Buenos Noches!
